Meditation for Mental Health
If you want to live a fulfilling and satisfying life, it pays to strengthen your mental health. The stronger the pillars of your mind, the better equipped you will be to make the most of your life.
A healthy mind takes action, unhindered by fear, confusion, or distraction. And it continues to work when things get tough.
Your mind is the product of your whole life (and, I think, the opposite is true). Taking care of it is like taking care of your body. You will want to be healthy, eat well and sleep well. Your mind needs social interaction, exciting jokes and body movements to stay afloat.
Self-care depends on every aspect of your life. So meditation is not the whole answer, though it certainly is part of you.

Q: How does meditation improve your mental health?
First of all, nothing I am saying here should be taken as medical advice. Only a licensed, informed, spoken professional will do that.
But, for many people, meditation is a good training for your mental health. Just as physical exercise keeps your body strong, meditation develops important mental skills. Focusing on the present keeps you from focusing on the past or worrying about the future. Accepting what you are experiencing reduces the pain of any negative emotion.
You do not lift the weights so you can lift the weights. In order for you to be strong in your daily life. Meditation is the same.
A period of peace also allows your unconscious mind to deal with any back problems. If you meditate long enough, you will have days when you go out feeling good. You will not know what has been resolved, but you will know that something has been done.
That puts you in control of everything that happens next.

Question: How much should I meditate on each week?
If you have never started before, take a moment. Maybe you want 10 minutes a day, three days a week.
You want to build that. Most people find it better (and easier) if they do 20 minutes every day. That’s what I do, at least.
Then sometimes I will meditate twice a day or have a long time (about an hour).
Whether that is right for you is up to you. I encourage you to try it longer, though.

Q: Does meditation help with the more serious issues of mental health?
It can. There is a lot of evidence that meditation is good for things like anxiety, stress and trauma - even PTSD. In extreme cases, I recommend seeking guidance - at least, talk to your doctor. You probably want a good meditation coach too.
Meditation is not always recommended for people who see deception or who have different personalities.
Q: There is something I want to fix but meditation does not help. Any thoughts?
If that doesn't help, learn self-hypnosis. It teaches you to get to the symbolic essence of your issues and resolve them.
