The first step is to use a broom to remove dust from the air vents. The broom can also be used for areas with high winds, although you should be aware of falling dust. You can use a mop instead of a broom to clean up cracks in the roof, but make sure it is moist enough to prevent dusting. The wet surface of the mop allows for easy grip on the dust.

Then, loosen the air cover slowly and carefully adjust the screws to prevent them from falling down the aisle. You can get a wet rag and use it to wipe the inside of the vent. If you have a vacuum cleaner, this can also be used inside the vent. However, it is not recommended that you go too high as you may lose some of the vacuum cleaner.

Now you can clean the ventilation cover. If the dust is very thick, the cover of your air vents can be cleaned by washing. Let it dry, then be ready to open it again. It is also important to change the air filter once every three months, no matter how tight or expensive the filter is.

Do not forget to clean other indoor air filters. Normally, the bathroom will have an air conditioner that may or may not need maintenance. Also check the ventilation in the kitchen. Some kitchens will have ductless hoods that require filters to be replaced from time to time.

The last thing you need to do is keep the cracks in place. Avoid stacking boxes near air vents or placing furniture directly over pipes as it can block air and will cause units to work twice as hard.
